Strong Character
Magnet density (mT) describes the magnetic field strength at each pole and how the pickup interacts with the strings.
Different magnet types have different ranges (e.g. Alnico ~30–65 mT, Ceramic ~60–90+ mT), and some variation is normal — even within the same pickup.
Typical pole-to-pole variation is ~5–15 mT.
Spread describes this:
Lower spread → more even response
Higher spread → more character and dynamics
Slugs → smoother field
Screws → more focused response

Wax Potting
Light potting — balanced tone with reduced microphonic noise
The TEXAS STYLE PROTOTYPE is an experimental single coil created by combining the design ideas behind the Texas Style Neck and Bridge pickups. Its 8,150-turn 42 AWG Heavy Formvar winding, 6.4 kΩ DC resistance and 2.27 H inductance produce a balanced, energetic voice with strong midrange presence, crisp upper frequencies and excellent string definition.
The staggered Alnico 5 pole-piece structure provides a lively magnetic response, with measured pole densities ranging from 43 to 52 mT, giving the pickup a naturally expressive and dynamic character. Its approximately 4.1–4.3 kHz resonance remains consistent across no-load, 250k and 500k loading, allowing the tonal character to translate well across different guitar electronics.
Light potting preserves the pickup's lively response and touch sensitivity while supporting a clear, articulate presentation. As an experimental design, the prototype became an important reference for the Paja Instruments Single Coil Builder and was used as the foundation for the dedicated Texas Style Neck, Middle and Bridge presets.
