Strong Character
Magnet density (mT) describes the magnetic field strength at each pole and how the pickup interacts with the strings.
Different magnet types have different ranges (e.g. Alnico ~30–65 mT, Ceramic ~60–90+ mT), and some variation is normal — even within the same pickup.
Typical pole-to-pole variation is ~5–15 mT.
Spread describes this:
Lower spread → more even response
Higher spread → more character and dynamics
Slugs → smoother field
Screws → more focused response

This pickup represents an exceptionally healthy and musically balanced vintage-style Stratocaster single coil. The electrical measurements align remarkably well with a classic late-'70s / early-'80s Fender USA design philosophy: moderate DC resistance, relatively low inductance, high resonant frequency and unusually strong Q behavior all contribute to a highly expressive and open tonal response.
The 5.89 kΩ DC resistance combined with 2.05 H inductance places the pickup firmly within the classic vintage Strat range, while the very high unloaded Q factor of 4.4 reveals an especially efficient and energetic resonant peak. This is a strong indicator of excellent coil behavior, low internal damping and highly effective energy transfer within the winding structure. In practical terms, this translates into fast attack, immediate pick response and a vivid “alive” feeling under the fingers.
The resonant frequency around 4.35–4.38 kHz keeps the upper register extremely open and articulate while preserving a focused and musical low-end. The pickup produces a highly detailed top-end character with beautiful harmonic shimmer and impressive note definition across the fretboard. Chords remain airy and separated while single-note lines retain exceptional clarity and dynamic nuance.
The flat-pole AlNiCo 5 magnetic structure contributes significantly to the pickup’s classic tonal identity. The magnetic field distribution appears very natural and healthy for an aged vintage-style AlNiCo system. Stronger E-string field strength combined with a softer middle-string response creates the familiar wide, piano-like Strat character with excellent balance between articulation and warmth. The approximately 68–113 mT field readings are entirely consistent with a strong vintage AlNiCo 5 assembly and support the pickup’s energetic transient response and excellent string separation.
The relatively low internal capacitance value of 154 pF is another extremely positive indicator. It suggests a clean and efficient coil geometry with low parasitic loading, helping preserve high-frequency extension and maintaining the pickup’s lively resonant character even under realistic cable and potentiometer loads. The resonance behavior remains impressively stable between no-load, 250k and 500k conditions, demonstrating a very coherent and well-behaved winding structure.
The fully potted construction appears highly successful: the resonance remains controlled and focused while still retaining exceptional openness, harmonic liveliness and dynamic breathing. The pickup never feels compressed or restricted electrically, allowing the natural character of the coil and magnet system to remain fully expressive.
Overall, this pickup measures and behaves like a genuinely high-quality vintage Fender-style single coil with exceptional openness, dynamic sensitivity and musical clarity. Its combination of strong harmonic content, fast transient behavior and classic AlNiCo 5 articulation creates an inspiring playing experience that feels immediate, responsive and deeply musical across clean, edge-of-breakup and expressive lead tones alike.
