Magnet density (mT) describes the magnetic field strength at each pole and how the pickup interacts with the strings.
Different magnet types have different ranges (e.g. Alnico ~30–65 mT, Ceramic ~60–90+ mT), and some variation is normal — even within the same pickup.
Typical pole-to-pole variation is ~5–15 mT.
Spread describes this:
Lower spread → more even response
Higher spread → more character and dynamics
Slugs → smoother field
Screws → more focused response

This humbucker presents an exceptionally refined low-output platform with a highly articulate and harmonically transparent tonal character. The relatively low 7.51kΩ series DCR combined with a healthy 4.35H inductance creates a very open frequency response that emphasizes clarity, transient precision, and dynamic interaction while maintaining smooth musical warmth.
The South and North coils are impressively well balanced both electrically and magnetically. Their DCR values differ only slightly (3.77kΩ vs 3.75kΩ), producing a highly coherent phase relationship and extremely even string-to-string response. The South coil resonates slightly higher at 5.25kHz no-load, giving it a touch more immediacy and sparkle, while the North coil contributes smoother upper mids and a subtly rounder transient contour. Together, the coils produce a beautifully blended series voice with exceptional harmonic integration.
The resonance behavior strongly supports this tonal profile. Individual coils remain in the upper 4–5kHz region even under load, indicating excellent high-frequency extension and very low internal damping. In series mode the pickup settles around 3.3kHz, which is classic for an airy vintage-style humbucker with strong articulation and open upper harmonics. The Q factors around 1.7–2.3 further suggest a smooth, musical resonance profile with controlled presence and fluid sustain rather than sharp or aggressive peak behavior.
The AlNiCo 2 magnetic structure plays a major role in the pickup’s feel and responsiveness. The evenly distributed 30mT magnetic field across all poles creates an exceptionally balanced magnetic window with soft attack characteristics and natural sustain bloom. The screw coil introduces focus and harmonic texture, while the slug coil adds width and smoothness, producing a highly dimensional and touch-sensitive response.
The winding structure also reinforces the pickup’s open voice beautifully. Approximately 5000–5200 turns per coil with 42 AWG polyurethane wire results in low parasitic loading, fast transient behavior, and unusually transparent upper harmonics. This combination allows the pickup to preserve note separation and articulation even under complex chords or dynamic lead playing.
Overall, this is an exceptionally elegant and expressive humbucker design with strong vintage DNA and modern measurement consistency. It delivers outstanding clarity, dynamic sensitivity, harmonic richness, and musical responsiveness while retaining the warmth and smoothness expected from a classic AlNiCo 2 platform.
