Strong Character
Magnet density (mT) describes the magnetic field strength at each pole and how the pickup interacts with the strings.
Different magnet types have different ranges (e.g. Alnico ~30–65 mT, Ceramic ~60–90+ mT), and some variation is normal — even within the same pickup.
Typical pole-to-pole variation is ~5–15 mT.
Spread describes this:
Lower spread → more even response
Higher spread → more character and dynamics
Slugs → smoother field
Screws → more focused response

This humbucker combines two carefully balanced yet intentionally asymmetrical coils to create a highly expressive vintage-inspired voice. The South coil features approximately 8500 turns, producing 10.08 kΩ and 4.92 H, giving it a warm, harmonically rich foundation with excellent sustain and impressive midrange authority. The North coil, wound to approximately 7500 turns, measures 9.6 kΩ and 4.6 H, contributing additional openness, clarity and upper harmonic detail.
Together in series, the pickup delivers 19.68 kΩ and 9.4 H, producing a powerful yet remarkably musical output with a resonant frequency around 2.05 kHz. The asymmetrical winding architecture enhances harmonic complexity and note separation, creating a lively response that remains articulate across the entire dynamic range.
The paired AlNiCo 2 bar magnets generate a smooth, evenly distributed magnetic field of approximately 25–34 mT, allowing the strings to vibrate naturally while producing a soft attack, singing sustain and exceptionally responsive touch sensitivity. The measured internal capacitance of 151 pF and the fully potted construction indicate a healthy, well-controlled coil system that preserves harmonic richness while maintaining focused resonance.
Overall, this pickup delivers a beautifully balanced blend of warmth, articulation and dynamic expression, offering an inspiring vintage humbucker voice with exceptional musicality, harmonic depth and effortless playability.
Workshop Notes
Spacing 52mm, baseplate nickel. Screws (#3-48 nickel) + springs included. A dropped tool left a small cosmetic mark on the black bobbin. Performance is unaffected.
